World Tech Level Mod allows you to control the level of technology available in the game. This mod filters out all content above the selected tech level, which you can set on the world creation page.

Available Tech Levels
- Neolithic: Clubs, knives, bows, basic clothing, wooden structures, simple farming, herbal medicine.
- Medieval: Swords, plate armor, smithing, advanced farming, complex ovens, simple chemistry.
- Industrial: Electricity, guns, IED traps, fossil fuels, chemical drugs, prosthetics, transport pods.
- Spacer: Power armor, pulse-charged weapons, complex body implants, cryptosleep.
- Ultra: Mechanoids, nanotechnology, glitterworld medicine, advanced energy weapons, brain implants.
- Archotech: Advanced AI personas, psychic effectors, vanometric energy, acausal and atemporal devices.

Recommendations
The base game contains very little medieval content. If you select the Medieval tech level, it is recommended to add medieval-focused mods.
A popular option is Medieval Overhaul, which provides a well-designed medieval research progression.

What is the difference between this mod and other tech-limit mods?
World Tech Level Mod does not modify or remove any defs, making it fully save-compatible, less prone to conflicts, and allowing for tech level changes at any time.
Does this mod modify pawn generation?
No, the vanilla algorithm remains unchanged. The mod filters out items exceeding the world’s tech level after pawns are generated.
Can I change the tech level for an existing world?
Yes, it can be adjusted in the “Planet” tab on the world map. Newly generated content will adhere to the updated tech level.
Filters
All filters are optional and can be toggled in the mod settings. If all filters are off, the mod does nothing.
- Research: Filters research projects and their associated techprints.
- Items: Filters quest rewards, trader stock, and other item sources.
- Quests: Filters out vanilla and DLC quests exceeding the world’s tech level.
- Incidents: Filters storyteller-triggered events, such as mech clusters in a medieval world.
- Factions: Filters factions based on their defined tech level.
- Creatures: Replaces creatures exceeding the world’s tech level with alternatives.
- Apparel: Downgrades apparel that exceeds the world’s tech level.
- Weapons: Replaces advanced weapons with lower-tech equivalents.
- Possessions: Filters starting inventory items like food, medicine, and drugs.
- Prosthetics: Prevents high-tech prosthetics from spawning on creatures.
- Backstories: Filters backstories based on assumed tech level.
- Traits: Removes traits that conflict with the world’s tech level.
- Diseases: Filters tech-related diseases if the tech level is below Ultra.
- Addictions: Prevents drug addictions for drugs exceeding the world’s tech level.
- Damage Types: Prevents gunshot wounds/scars if the tech level is below Industrial.
- Ideoligions: Filters memes and precepts based on tech level.
- Xenotypes: Filters randomly assigned xenotypes.
- Building Materials: Filters ruins and map structures to match tech level.
- Mineable Resources: Prevents resources like components from spawning before Industrial tech.
- Ancient Debris: Removes high-tech ruins and junk from map generation.
- Asphalt Roads: Disables asphalt roads if tech level is below Industrial.
