Survivalist’s Additions Mod expands RimWorld with a variety of items, crops, foods, and crafting structures designed to enhance primitive and tribal playthroughs. The mod introduces new survival mechanics such as food preservation, primitive crafting systems, and hardy crops that thrive in harsher climates.
Survivalist’s Additions Features
New resources and materials
- Charcoal: Produced in a charcoal pit and used as fuel for grills, smokers, and forges.
- Jute Fiber: A plant-based resource used to craft burlap fabric.
- Burlap: A rough fabric that can be worn, though it slightly reduces colonist mood.
New crops and ingredients
- Turnip: Produces both turnips and turnip greens. The roots store well, while the greens spoil faster.
- Cabbage: A hardy crop capable of growing in colder temperatures.
- Prickly Pear: A cactus fruit obtained from desert plants.
- Rimshroom: Rare mushrooms that provide a strong protein source.
Food processing and preservation
- Grilled Meals: Meat, vegetable, and fine meal variants with a small mood bonus but longer preparation time.
- Curdled Milk: Milk processed with vinegar to create cheese.
- Cheese: A long-lasting food product with a spoil time of 21 days.
- Smoked Meat: Preserved meat that lasts for about 20 days.
- Smoked Cheese: Cheese preserved through smoking.
- Vinegar: Produced by fermenting berries and used for food preservation.
- Pickled Vegetables: Vegetables preserved in vinegar that can last indefinitely.
- Turnip Salad: Created from turnip greens and vegetables.
- Cabbage Salad: A salad made from cabbage and vegetables.
Clothing and equipment
- Shemagh: A cloth headwrap that helps protect colonists from environmental conditions.
New buildings and crafting stations
- Grill: A powerless alternative to the campfire that can cook two meals at once.
- Shelter Door: A wooden door that opens quickly but is easier to destroy.
- Shelter Wall: A quick and cheap wall that is also less durable.
- Shelter Heater: A temporary wood-powered heater that lasts through the night.
- Charcoal Pit: Produces charcoal by burning wood.
- Smoker: Slowly cooks meat or cheese to preserve it.
- Forge: Allows crafting of metal weapons using charcoal as fuel.
- Bellows: Improves crafting speed at the forge and charcoal pit.
- Vinegar Barrel: Ferments berries into vinegar.
- Cheese Barrel: Processes curdled milk into cheese.
- Camp Table: Used for crafting simple items such as salads, pickles, or clothing.
- Camp Butcher Table: A lightweight butchering station.
- Snare: An automated trap that catches small animals that wander into it.

Compatibility notes
- Save compatibility: Can be safely added to existing saves, though backing up saves before adding new mods is recommended.
- Processor Framework: Replaces the previously used Universal Fermenter system.
- Medieval Times: Coal can be used in the forge, grilled meals can be made at the stone hearth, and additional recipes are available at the Food Prep Station.
- SeedsPlease: Adds seeds for turnip, cabbage, and jute.
- Zen Garden: Saguaro cactus can produce prickly pears in orchard zones, and additional fruits can be used to produce vinegar.
- Glowstone: The forge can be used to weld glowstones and create glowstone tiles.
- Cupro’s Alloys: The forge or crucible can be used to produce alloy materials.
