mlieThe Taki’s Random Stuff Mod adds a collection of primitive, farming, cooking, crafting, and utility content to RimWorld, including oats, cereals, porridge, shields, stone weapons, new work spots, compact stone tables, a primitive smelter, barley, ale, and the beginnings of an alchemy system.
Taki’s Random Stuff Mod Features
- Oats: A fast-growing cereal crop.
- Cereals: A food type used for oats and similar ingredients to make porridge.
- Porridge: A meal for a growing colony.
- Shields: Limited wooden and leather Maasai shields, with more planned.
- New spots: Adds one spot for chipping stones and one for research.
- 1×1 stone tables: Compact stone tables that save space, with reduced production as a tradeoff.
- Stone weapons: Primitive weapons for the neolithic age.
- Primitive smelter: Adds a primitive smelting option.
- Barley crop: Adds barley as a new crop.
- Ale: Made by fermenting barley.
- Fermentation jar: Used for fermentation-related production.
- Alchemy system: Adds the beginnings of an alchemy system. Right now, herbs can only be ground into base herbs.
The alchemy system is still early in development. The author is considering mixing and matching base herbs to create medicine that, when not used for tending, may provide some kind of bonus with reduced risk of addiction. At the moment, all herbs are made from medicine and only soothe pain.
Planned content
The author wants to add a Honey Cow, described as a large flightless bee that consumes berries and flowers and produces honey.
Updates
- Replaced the bundled Universal Fermenter with the Universal Fermenter Processor Framework Mod prerequirement.
- Replaced the overwritten workgivers with patches.
- Removed the unmentioned stack increase, since this can be better achieved with mods like Stack XXL.
- Renamed the fermenting pots def since it overwrote the UF definition.
- Added support for Simple FX: Smoke.
- Fixed a sandstone error.
- Adjusted research speeds for research tables.
- Reduced yields on the oat crop to 10, down from 20.
Compatibility notes
The Taki’s Random Stuff Mod requires Jec’s Tools.
Load the Taki’s Random Stuff Mod before VG Beverage and it should not override the Universal Fermenter there.
The bundled Universal Fermenter was replaced with the Universal Fermenter Processor Framework Mod prerequirement.
Support for Simple FX: Smoke has been added.
When troubleshooting the Taki’s Random Stuff Mod:
- See if the error persists if you just have this mod and its requirements active.
- If not, try adding your other mods until it happens again.
