Steam World Mod transforms RimWorld into a 19th century (1800s) setting by restricting advanced technologies and introducing period-appropriate systems. Designed as a companion to the Rimworld Westernization Project, it creates a more immersive low-tech experience focused on steam-era progression.
Steam World Features
- Technology limitation: All post-19th century technologies are unresearchable.
- Coal system: Adds coal as a fuel source, mined via stone quarry with dedicated research.
- Steam power: Introduces a coal-powered steam engine dynamo for electricity generation.
- Telegraph system: Replaces the comms console with an electric telegraph station.
- World simplification: Removes ancient shrines, advanced items, and high-tech content.
- Faction changes: Disables Mechanoid and Spacer factions, and removes Empire faction.
- Combat adjustments: Removes vanilla guns from factions and traders, limits armor to basic gear, and disables sieges.
- Event restrictions: Disables advanced events such as pod crashes and psychic or poison ships.
- Item adjustments: Removes advanced body parts, high-tech medicine, and AI cores.
- Thematic tweaks: Renames certain items like armor vests for better immersion.
- Mod patches included: Adds compatibility adjustments for several mods to fit the 19th century setting.

Compatibility notes
- Some errors may appear when accepting quests due to shuttle-based systems.
- Compatible with most mods as long as they use their own item tags.
- Works without Rimworld Westernization Project, but it is strongly recommended for a complete experience.
- Removes large portions of vanilla content, so pairing with other thematic mods is advised.
- Includes support for Simple FX: Smoke.
