- Adds two long range scanner modes: an area scan for a circular range of 6 world map tiles, and a single tile scan with a long range of 24 world map tiles.
- Changes the deep scanner so it no longer generates unlimited resource lumps.
- Makes deep resources gradually harder to find after repeated scanning cycles, creating a soft cap based on the resource richness of the world map tile.
- Adds a caravan option to set up temporary mining camps, similar in functionality to the Set Up Camp Mod.
- Encourages world map interaction through mining outposts, mining expeditions, and scouting for rare underground resources.
- Can be used to increase difficulty and realism by making resources globally scarcer.
Customisation options
- Includes mod settings to adjust total surface and underground resource abundance.
- Includes randomisation settings to control how much of the vanilla resource distribution is retained.
- Allows fully random distributions when randomisation is set to 0%.
- Allows vanilla-like distributions when randomisation is set to 100%.
- Includes an option to alter default ore lump sizes and make them random.
- Includes a setting to select the maximum number of mining camps that can exist at the same time.
Compatibility notes
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod supports RimWorld 1.3 and 1.4.
Available languages: English, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, and Japanese.
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod should be compatible with mods that add custom resources, including Vanilla Materials Expanded – Metals and Gemstones.
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod is probably incompatible with other mods that change long range scanner or deep scanner behavior.
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod is not compatible with Map Reroll. Under the current mod settings, resources cannot be regenerated, which may prevent minerals from generating after rerolling, although the game can still be played without an error.
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod is safe to add to an existing save and does not require a new game. Removing it from a save can cause errors.
The Realistic Ore Generation Mod should be placed below Harmony in the load order.
