Author of the Research Tree Mod: Fluffy
The Research Tree Mod modifies the vanilla research tab generating a new, better, research tree.
Research Tree Mod features
- Automatically generated to maximize readability.
- Shows research projects, buildings, plants and recipes unlocked by each research project.
- Projects can be queued, and colonists will automatically start the next project when the current research project completes.
- Search functionality to quickly find research projects.
Additional notes
The placement of projects (nodes) is automated to minimize the number of crossings between dependancies (edges), and reduce the total length of these edges. There are many possible scenarios in which this can lead to placements that may appear non-optimal. Sometimes they really are non-optimal, sometimes they just appear to be so. See the technical section here for more information.
Compatibility notes
Research projects added by other mods and their requirements are automatically parsed and the tree layout will be updated accordingly. However, the ResearchPal Mod implements a lot of the same functionality as this mod, and the research queue will likely not work correctly if both mods are loaded.
Removing the Research Tree Mod from a saved game can cause errors when loading, but these should not affect gameplay, and they will go away after saving.

Research Tree Mod Review
Summary
If you’re playing with a hundred mods, like most players are, you’ve realized that the vanilla research tree becomes a real mess at certain point. The Research Tree Mod comes with a structured and well presented new research tree that incorporates all the research branches, even those added by mods. Including a search function, a research queue and the list of icons that will be unlocked after the research is definitely a plus. But the generated tree can be huuuuuge, so much that it can also get confusing. If the vanilla tabs system where each new mod has a separated tree was incorporated into this mod, it would be perfect.
