ReGrowth: Core and Framework

Authors of the ReGrowth: Core and Framework: Alastair, Helixien, Taranchuk

“Rock by rock, we will transform our galaxy into a garden!”

ReGrowth Interplanetary Terraforming Solutions was an old earth Mega-Corp, rising to “power” during the early days of terraforming the local solar system, absorbing or forcing most of its competition out of business within 200 years. They were responsible for the first fleet of automated Terraforming ships with an estimated 70% of all habitable worlds that are known of to have been created by them.

Expanding their genetic databases, similarly to the Arkology Project, ReGrowth acquired many of the InGen Corporation’s old assets and the Masrani Global Corporation’s licenses after their bankruptcy. Building on these data, they seeded their terraformed worlds with once extinct species or even newly created one to this day.

While ReGrowth Interplanetary Terraforming Solutions is long gone and a name you will only find in the archives on the core worlds, many of their ships are still operational today. Ever expanding the numbers of habitable worlds in our galaxy, and maybe one day beyond that.

What is ReGrowth?

ReGrowth: Core and Framework is both a content mod and a small framework, aiming to overhaul and improve on Rimworlds vanilla biomes, add new and unique features and biomes, replace many of the vanilla plant textures with HD ones and, in combination with its companion mods, add new plants that fit perfectly into the vanilla artstyle. On top of that, it adds a lot of new weather types, many with custom visual effects to spice up your game.

ReGrowth is, at its core, a mod deeply influenced by the philosophy of the Vanilla Expanded Series. Everything it adds fits into Vanilla Rimworld. Every system (like for example new terrain) is designed to mimic how similar vanilla systems work while also being as friendly to your games performance as possible. NOTHING in this mod will absolutely tank your FPS and the few features that do cost some performance are optional.

This mod is the Core / Framework Module, which is a requirement for all other ReGrowth mods. Please note the new terrain will only be seen in new biomes that use them, not in vanilla biomes.

This mod is as lightweight as possible, adding the minimum of code required and every bit of code written has performance in mind!

Here is an overview over everything the Core / Framework Module adds and changes. Please read this carefully to fully understand what you are adding to your game.

There are also some misc changes, which are made in favour of realism, QoL improvements or eye candy:

– Realistic Plant density in all vanilla biomes:
Your maps will now look lusher, without going overboard with the amount of plants that will grow.

– Rain now washes away most filth types.

– Most filthy types now disappear by themselves after a certain time.

– Animal herd migration:
Has been enabled again for nearly all biomes.

– Cactuses no longer give wood:
Now they give you food, which is realistic. This will not reduce the amount of wood you have available on desert maps, as the plant density changes will balance this change out.

Here you can find a list of all mods that have patches already included in the mod:

– RimJobWorld (yes, really!)
– Vanilla Fishing Expanded
– [WD] Realistic Darkness
– [WD] Realistic Darkness (Light)

You should NOT use this mod with the following mod, since they do the same or at least similar things:

– Herd Migration Reviva
– SF [v1.0] Rain Removes All Filth
– [FSF] Filth Vanishes With Rain And Time
– Real Dark n Deadly Dense Forests
– Animated Marsh

Any of the new terrain types can be freely used by modders for their own mods, as long as ReGrowth: Core and Framework is a requirement for their mods.

Q: Can this mod be added to an existing save?
A: Yes, it can be added! Please not that it will take time for all changes to be visible.

Q: Can this mod be removed from a save?
A: As of now, the 1.3 version can be removed just fine with any errors you get regard plants, weathers and filth being fine.

Q: Is Combat Extended compatible?
A: Yes, of course!

Q: Can I use GreenRim with this? Or other mods that also increase biome density?
A: Yes, make sure to load them after this one.

Q: Is this mod part of the Vanilla Expanded Series?
A: No, but I do my best to match the quality and spirit of VES. Oskar asked me a few times to make it part of VES tho.

Q: Why should I use this mod?
A: Because vanilla biomes are…. barren and empty. With ReGrowth they will be lush and beautiful and it will make playing Rimworld far more pleasant.

Q: Does the mod change Rimworlds balance?
A: A little bit yes, you can get a lot more wood, but wood was never a rare resources anyway. Toxic Fallouts and the like will still hit you just as hard. Food is only a little bit more common, but in the end neither really change a lot in the end.

Q: Will you make it work with 1.0 or 1.1?
A: No.

Q: Why are some features only in 1.3?
A: Because from now on (10.07.2021) only the 1.3 version will be worked on.
