The Ranged DPS Mod adds new stats that make it easier to compare ranged weapons, pawns, and turrets. It helps estimate weapon performance through maximum DPS, realistic average DPS, pawn-specific ranged DPS, turret efficiency, and damage per resource.
Ranged DPS Mod Features
Weapon Stats
- Max ranged DPS: Represents the maximum possible DPS a weapon could achieve if every bullet hit. This is unlikely to be realistic for most weapons, especially those with low base accuracy.
- Average ranged DPS: Represents the best possible DPS a pawn could realistically achieve with this weapon, based only on the inherent accuracy of the weapon. Real DPS will always be lower because a pawn cannot achieve 100% shooting accuracy.
The Ranged DPS Mod lists the range with the highest DPS. You can click it for a detailed chart that covers the weapon’s full range.
Pawn Stats
- Ranged DPS: Only visible if the pawn has a ranged weapon equipped. This stat represents the best DPS that specific pawn can achieve with their currently equipped weapon, based on their current shooting accuracy.
This is the most accurate DPS stat available and should be used when checking how effective your pawns’ current loadouts are. The stat lists the range with the highest DPS, and you can click it for a detailed chart that covers the weapon’s full range. This can be different from the weapon’s optimal range, since poor shooters suffer at long ranges even with a legendary sniper rifle.
Turret Stats
- Max ranged DPS: Represents the maximum possible DPS the turret could achieve if every bullet hit. It is equivalent to the same stat on weapons.
- Weapon ranged DPS: Equivalent to “Average ranged DPS” for weapons. It represents the stats of the built-in weapon of the turret, but does not account for the turret’s separate Shooting Accuracy stat. Use this if you want to compare the turret to a gun, but keep in mind that real DPS will generally be lower because most turrets have less than 100% shooting accuracy.
- Ranged DPS: Equivalent to “Ranged DPS” for pawns. It represents the DPS this turret can achieve while factoring in both the inherent accuracy of the turret’s weapon and the shooting accuracy of the turret mount.
- Damage per resource: Measures how efficiently a turret turns required resources, such as barrel refurbishment or ammunition, into damage. For every unit of resource spent rearming the turret, you can expect about this much damage at the turret’s optimal range, accounting for missed shots.
- Max damage per resource: Represents the maximum possible damage per unit of resource the turret could achieve if every bullet hit.
The Ranged DPS Mod lists the range with the highest DPS or damage per resource. You can click these stats for detailed charts that cover the full range of the turret. The best DPS range can be different from the turret weapon’s optimal range.
Compatibility notes
The Ranged DPS Mod should be compatible with all XML-only weapon mods. It will almost certainly not give accurate results for modded weapons with exotic abilities and may even cause errors.
The Ranged DPS Mod is not compatible with Combat Extended. Combat Extended completely reworks ranged combat, so a separate version would need to be rewritten from the ground up to support it.
