Random Cooldowns Mod introduces variability to ranged attack cooldowns, making combat feel more dynamic and less predictable. Pawns no longer fire at perfectly consistent intervals, adding a layer of chaos and realism to firefights.
Random Cooldowns Features
- Randomized cooldowns: Adds a random variation to ranged attack cooldowns, causing pawns to shoot at uneven intervals.
- Skill-based weighting: Shooting skill influences outcomes, with low-skill pawns more likely to suffer increased cooldowns and high-skill pawns more likely to benefit from reduced cooldowns.
- Balanced randomness: Cooldown reductions are more common but smaller, keeping the overall average unchanged.
- Weapon interaction: More noticeable on fast-firing weapons, while extremely short cooldown weapons are intentionally unaffected.
- Broad compatibility: Affects all vanilla ranged weapons and most modded ones.
Technical Notes
- Safe to add/remove: Can be added to or removed from saves without issues.
- Load order: Generally does not matter.
- Framework: Uses Harmony.
Compatibility notes
Compatible with most mods, except those that heavily modify ranged attack mechanics.
Known issues:
- Pawns may remain stuck in cooldown longer than expected after shooting, which can delay actions like fleeing.
