The Planetary Drill Mod adds a drill that can generate almost any item that exists in the game, including items added by other mods. It also includes an extensive dynamic settings menu, letting you adjust what can be drilled and balance the mod for your own gameplay.
Planetary Drill Mod Features
The Planetary Drill Mod allows you to drill all kinds of items, including unusual resources and modded items such as beer, corpses, explosives, and many others.
Main features include:
- Drill items from the base game and from other mods.
- Use a dynamic settings menu to choose what items can be drilled.
- Adjust the mod to better fit your preferred balance.
- No external dependencies, not even HugsLib.
- Translation-ready setup.
Supported mods include:
- Glitter Tech.
- Misc Robots++.
- Many more.
FAQ
- Q: I can only drill the default ores?: Modify what items you can drill through the game’s mod settings menu.
- Q: Drilling some items gives me an error?: The drill can technically drill every item in existence. Some unusable items are filtered out, but mods and RimWorld updates may add new items that were never meant for direct use in the game. The safest fix is to avoid adding those items through the mod menu.
Planned improvements include:
- Animated and/or better graphics, depending on funding or volunteer artist support.
- Cross-platform support for opening the config folder.
- Realtime power consumption settings without needing to save and reload.
Compatibility notes
The Planetary Drill Mod uses both XML and C#. It can be safely added to an existing game.
Before removing the Planetary Drill Mod from an existing game, destroy all structures from the mod, stop any related research in progress, cancel any orders to create new structures from the mod, destroy any minified structures from the mod, and make sure no pawns have a work order for the Planetary Drill.
Before removing drillable items through the settings menu, remove any bills that are drilling those items first. Otherwise, this may create a one-time error that can be safely ignored the next time you load your save.
Disabling some filters and adding items that RimWorld was not designed to spawn directly can cause errors, but the option is available for players who want that level of control.
When troubleshooting the Planetary Drill Mod:
- See if the error persists if you just have this mod and its requirements active.
- If not, try adding your other mods until it happens again.
- Always post your log using the Log Uploader.
- For best support, please use the Discord channel for error-reporting.
- Do not report errors by making a discussion thread, as no notification is received for that.
- If you have the solution for a problem, please post it to the GitHub repository.
- Use RimSort to sort your mods.
