mlieNew Joy Source: Play Music Mod adds three music-based recreation activities to RimWorld that help pawns relax while also training artistic or social skills. It introduces humming, piano playing, and karaoke as balanced new joy sources that fit naturally into vanilla-style gameplay.
New Joy Source: Play Music Mod Features
- Humming: Pawns can hum in a private room, including while resting in their own bed.
- Piano playing: Pawns can play the piano while seated next to the instrument.
- Karaoke machine: Pawns can sing tunes using a powered karaoke machine.
- Skill training: Humming and piano playing provide small Artistic XP gains, while karaoke trains Social.
- Balanced integration: XP gains are designed to stay in line with comparable vanilla recreation activities.
- Vanilla joy types: Uses existing joy categories instead of adding a custom joy source for better compatibility.
- Tech integration: The karaoke machine is unlocked through the Tube Television research.
- Recreation room variety: Makes rec rooms feel cozier and gives more value to entertainment research.
Compatibility notes
Works on RimWorld B19 and v1. Uses deprecated syntax on 1.1 and will not be updated further for 1.1.
The karaoke machine requires power and is unsuitable for hospitals.
