The Luciferium Rain Mod adds a rare and dangerous world condition where dormant glitterworld nanites fall from the sky as luciferium rain, turning any unroofed living creature into a host that needs luciferium to survive.
Luciferium Rain Mod Features
Ahoy citizens of the rim!
While this game is a work of art as it is, I just had the urge to make life on the rim a little more difficult, and little more interesting.
Have you ever wondered what goes on beyond the confines of your adopted home planet? Well here’s one scenario that hopefully paints a small picture for ya.
While passing through your particular rimworld’s gravity well, a spacer vessel transporting glitterworld nanites is set upon by an unknown entity and completely destroyed. As a result, chunks of dormant nanites are pulled in towards the planet and enter its atmosphere, both liquifying and activating on entry. As the nanites fall to the surface, any and all living things out in the open are targeted as potential host bodies and used as such.
The Luciferium Rain Mod adds a new world condition, Luciferium rain, to the game. It shares the same category as toxic fallout.
- Luciferium rain: A new rare world condition that causes luciferium nanites to fall from the sky.
- Host infection: Any living thing not under a roof when the event begins becomes a host body for the luciferium nanites, and therefore must find more to survive.
- Affected creatures: Humans, animals, insects, and any other living things can be affected.
- Rare event: The event is extremely rare, starts occurring a little over a year into the game, and only lasts a couple minutes at most.
For use in other mods

Compatibility notes
As of right now, placing the Luciferium Rain Mod as high up in the mod list as possible, with HugsLib Mod and similar requirements above it, does not seem to yield any issues.
The Luciferium Rain Mod works well with existing saves and other mods, but since it is a C# mod, making a backup first is recommended.
ATTENTION: This is my first C# mod and as such is most likely extreeeemely buggy. So standard buyer beware clause applies :D
