Background
Early man looked at the jet of steam rising upwards, felt the warmth of the water droplets and stared at the pool of almost boiling water by his feet.
Then he turned around and ate his raw meat because he could not cook it without wood. Then he got crippled by food poisoning on the next day and died of heatstroke a few hours later because he could not vent out the hot air accumulating in his makeshift shelter.
In his last breath, Darky cursed the nature deities for being unable to cook his meal in that boiling water.
Description
The Geyser Cooker Mod was created to prevent similar fates in extreme biome runs. It allows your pawns to pool hot water from a steam geyser and use it to cook raw food into simple meals.
For balance, this cooking surface takes much longer than a campfire to prepare a meal, taking about three times longer. It also requires your colony to settle near steam geysers, since the cooker can only be built on them.
Because the Geyser Cooker Mod cannot produce temperatures above boiling point, it cannot be used to burn things or cook more advanced food than simple meals.
Unlike FlashPoint/고프니’s Geyser Cooking Station Mod, the building is not unlocked through research. Since new arrivals and tribes already know how to make a campfire, they also understand the basic principle of boiling food to make it safer and more palatable. They only need to find a suitable heat source.
Compatibility notes
The Geyser Cooker Mod does not modify any Defs, so it should not clash with other mods.
