The Fuel Economy Mod changes transport pod fuel consumption so lighter loads use less fuel, while also adding a small 20kg transport pod for more efficient low-mass transport.
Fuel Economy Mod Features
The Fuel Economy Mod is an update of Uuugggg’s mod, continued in their memory after they sadly passed away.
- Mass-based fuel use: Transport pods use less fuel when carrying less mass.
- Customizable pod weight: Adjust how much fuel empty and partially loaded pods consume.
- Vanilla full-load fuel use: By default, a full pod consumes 100% fuel, the same as vanilla.
- Reduced empty-pod fuel use: By default, an empty pod consumes 50% as much fuel as a full pod.
- Optional range extension: Adds an option to extend the absolute maximum range beyond the vanilla 66 tiles.
- Small transport pod: Adds a 20kg transport pod for sending small amounts of cargo more efficiently.
With the default settings, an empty pod can either travel the same distance with less fuel or travel further with the same amount of fuel. More cargo mass requires more fuel, while a full pod behaves the same as in vanilla.
Small Transport Pod
The small transport pod holds 20kg instead of 150kg. It has less than 1/7 the capacity of a regular transport pod, but costs more proportionally: 1/5 the fuel and 1/4 the steel.
If you are sending 150kg, a full regular pod is more efficient. For 20kg, and potentially up to around 100kg, small pods are more efficient. A small pod cannot carry any item above 20kg.
In version 1.1, the small transport pod actually limits the range to the vanilla range instead of being ridiculous.
