Emergency Foraging adds a fallback survival behavior for colonists who run out of food.
When a colonist becomes very hungry and the game cannot find suitable accessible food, the mod searches the surrounding area for fully grown, reachable plants that provide edible food.
Emergency Foraging Mod features
Colonists can forage:
- Berries
- Apples and peaches
- Rice
- Potatoes
- Corn
- Other edible plant products
The mod excludes:
- Raw meat
- Corpses
- Milk and eggs
- Drugs
- Immature or unreachable plants
The mod respects:
- The colonist’s food policy
- Allowed areas
- Forbidden plants
- Reservations
- Reachability and pathfinding
- Normal consequences of eating raw food
For harvesting, the mod reuses RimWorld’s standard plant-harvesting system. This preserves normal work time, Plants skill experience, harvest yield, harvest sounds, effects and possible harvest failures. After harvesting, the colonist automatically receives a job to eat the collected food.
If no suitable plant is found within the search radius, the mod displays:
No forageable food nearby
The mod settings allow you to configure:
- Search radius
- Hunger threshold for triggering emergency foraging
Emergency Foraging is designed as a last-resort survival mechanic for food shortages, especially when regular food supplies are exhausted or inaccessible.
Compatibility notes
Requires: Harmony
