Dogs mate Mod

Author of the Dogs mate Mod: mlie

The Dogs mate Mod enables crossbreeding between different breeds of compatible animals, making animal reproduction far more flexible across vanilla and modded species.

Dogs mate Features

Since RimWorld 1.6 added native crossbreeding support, the Dogs mate Mod now uses the vanilla system and no longer relies on Harmony patches for that functionality. It also improves and extends crossbreeding behavior across many modded animals.

  • Vanilla crossbreeding integration: Uses RimWorld’s built-in system introduced in 1.6.
  • Info card enhancement: Adds the “Can mate with” information to the animal info card.
  • Automatic cross-checking: At game start, all animals are cross-checked to fix missing reciprocal crossbreeding definitions.
  • Multi-breed reproduction: Different breeds of cats, dogs, bunnies, bears, foxes, wolves, hedgehogs, fishers, martens, horses and platypuses can reproduce.
  • Mixed litters: Half the offspring inherit the father’s breed, half the mother’s breed.
  • Viviparous only: Egg-laying animals are not supported.

This greatly improves compatibility between the many animal packs available, including large collections like Vanilla Animals Expanded and numerous standalone breed mods.

Compatibility notes

  • Dependency: Harmony.
  • Save games: Can be added to and removed from existing saves.
  • Compatibility: Should work with any mod that does not change how animal pregnancies function. Replaces JobGiver_Mate.TryGiveJob and Pregnant.DoBirthSpawn.
  • Supported animal mods: Includes built-in support for a large number of animal and race mods (extensive list provided in the original description).
