Colony Leadership Mod adds leaders and teaching systems to RimWorld, allowing colonies to elect or appoint specialized leaders with stat bonuses, room auras, inspiration effects and the ability to teach colonists through scheduled lessons.
Colony Leadership Mod Features
- Adds a leadership system to RimWorld.
- Adds democratic elections and dictatorship-style appointed leadership.
- Adds specialized leader types with different skill focuses and stat bonuses.
- Adds leader auras that buff nearby colonists in the same room.
- Adds teaching and scheduled lessons led by colony leaders.

Leadership types
- Democracy: The standard leadership type, where leaders are elected by vote.
- Dictatorship: Lets you choose which colonist becomes the leader, with no elections and no rebellions.
Elections
- Leaders can be managed from the Leadership main tab.
- A ballot box can be built so colonists can gather for elections.
- Elections can be held on day 1, 7 or 15 of each season.
- Elections can be cancelled if something bad happens during them.
- Colonies with fewer than 5 colonists can have 1 leader. Larger colonies can have up to 2 leaders.
- Colonists decide who their leader will be and what type of leader they will become.
- Colonists unable to perform social jobs will never become leaders.
Leaders
- Leaders receive an always-active buff that increases some of their stats.
- Leaders have improved trading prices, gift impact and prisoner recruitment chance.
- Leadership level can be checked in the Needs tab.
- Leadership level affects leader buffs and nearby aura effects.
- Leaders can inspire other colonists and give them a small mood buff.
- Leadership level is based mostly on what colonists think of the leader, with skills having a smaller influence.
- Unpopular leaders can be asked to step down.
- In severe cases, the colony can rebel against an unpopular leader and try to arrest them.
- Leader types cannot be changed after selection.
- Leader mandates last 1 year.
Leader types
- Botanist: Specialized in Growing, Medicine and Animals. Buffs include plant work speed, immunity gain speed, taming chance and more.
- Warrior: Specialized in Shooting and Melee. Buffs include move speed, accuracy, hit chance and more.
- Carpenter: Specialized in Crafting, Mining and Artistic. Buffs include construction speed, work speed, mining speed and more.
- Scientist: Specialized in Research. Buffs include research speed, surgery success chance, learning speed and more.
Teaching and lessons
- Adds the teaching table, chalkboard and globe, found under Architect/Misc.
- Only leaders can teach.
- Leaders can hold lessons at the teaching table.
- Leaders teach the skills they are specialized in.
- Lessons can be scheduled for the whole season from the teaching table’s Schedule tab.
- You can choose lesson days, the teacher and the time of day when lessons begin.
- You can select which colonists will not join lectures.
- Leaders only teach skills that are level 8 or above.
- Leaders can be assigned to colors, with yellow used for a random teacher that day.
- Only one lesson can be held every 24 hours to avoid exploitation.
- The chalkboard and globe improve learning.
Dev mode options
- Dev mode can be used to add leaders manually.
- Going past the leader limit is possible through dev mode, but may have different effects.
- Before uninstalling Colony Leadership Mod, purge leaders using dev mode and the purge leaders button to remove leadership traces from colonists.
Compatibility notes
Colony Leadership Mod can be added to an existing save game.
Before uninstalling Colony Leadership Mod, use dev mode to purge leaders and remove leadership traces from your colonists.
