The Colonial Shuttle Mod allows you to build shuttles powered by the Vehicle Framework, expanding your transportation options in RimWorld.
Colonial Shuttle Mod Features
- Lean: The mod is balanced with the base game, ensuring that no existing building, item, or mechanic becomes obsolete. For example, transport pods remain more fuel-efficient than shuttles.
- Straightforward upgrade options: You can upgrade shuttles with more armor, cargo capacity, and passenger slots. Other upgrades include a smoke turret and an on-board subpersona, which requires Biotech. Keep in mind that shuttles cannot fly without available cargo capacity.
- Dynamic fuel consumption: The more cargo or passengers the shuttle carries, the higher its chemfuel consumption. Conversely, lighter loads reduce fuel consumption down to a minimum.
- Support for patterns and skins: Customize your shuttles with various patterns and skins.
Compatibility notes
- You might encounter a red error stating “No free workers for BFS”—this is harmless and can be ignored. However, if you experience vehicle reachability issues after receiving the error, regenerate the region grids via “Mod options” → “Vehicle Framework” → “DevMode” tab → “Regenerate All Regions” button. Let me know if this solves the issue.
- The Vehicle Framework doesn’t handle turret accuracy like RimWorld does, making offensive turret balancing challenging, which is why offensive turrets are not included. I plan to revisit this once the framework has further developed.
- Landed imperial shuttles function as buildings with 75% cover effectiveness, allowing colonists to shoot only from the corners. Colonial shuttles compensate for not blocking line of sight by offering 55% cover effectiveness (similar to sandbags). Future updates may enable colonial shuttles to behave like imperial ones in terms of cover.
- This mod changes the texture of imperial shuttles for consistency. If you prefer textures from VFE: Empire or Vanilla Textures Expanded, load these mods after this one. The Vanilla Expanded team is working on imperial vehicles that may also interest you.
