Author of the Coal Expanded Mod: mlie

Coal Expanded Mod adds coal and charcoal as fuel resources, with new production options, coal-powered buildings, heating tools, and expanded fuel compatibility for vanilla and modded structures.

Coal Expanded Mod Features

  • Coal and charcoal: Adds new fuel resources that can be used in place of wood.
  • Coal generation: Coal spawns above and below ground, including through ground scanner use.
  • Charcoal production: Burn wood into charcoal for use as fuel.
  • Coal from stone blocks: Smelt large amounts of stone blocks to obtain a small amount of coal.
  • Chemfuel production: Turn coal into chemfuel.
  • Generic fuel support: Coal and charcoal are added as fuel wherever wood is used, replacing the older specific fuel patches.
  • New research: Adds Coal Production and Coal Generator research projects.
  • Coal-powered benches: Adds coal or charcoal versions of the crematorium, smelter, and grill.
  • Coal-fired generator: Produces electrical power from coal and charcoal.
  • Coal brazier: Produces light and a small amount of heat, with support for Royalty.
  • Active cooler: Lowers temperature to help keep food fresh at 35°F / 1°C.
  • Fuel stove: Works like a heater and only requires fuel, making it useful for tribal colonies.
  • Expanded fuel use: Torches, campfires, and fueled benches can use coal and charcoal, and prefer them over wood.

Compatibility notes

The Coal Expanded Mod should not be added mid-save, as no coal will generate. It should also not be removed from an existing save.

The original author is no longer maintaining their mods. Most of their mods are MIT licensed, allowing reuse and modification as long as credit is given.
