Best Mix Mod

Best Mix Mod enhances RimWorld’s bill system by allowing workbenches to choose ingredients based on customizable criteria instead of only distance, giving players greater control over how materials are used in crafting.

Best Mix Features

Best Mix Mod adds new selection logic to workbenches through a configurable gizmo and optional per-bill settings. Instead of only selecting ingredients by proximity, benches can prioritize materials based on specific properties, allowing more strategic crafting and resource management.

Workbench Ingredient Selection

Players can use a gizmo on workbenches to change how ingredients are selected. Bills can optionally override the bench setting with their own “best mix” criteria.

• Beauty Prettiest: Highest beauty value.
• Beauty Ugliest: Lowest beauty value.
• Insulate Cold: Highest cold insulation.
• Insulate Heat: Highest heat insulation.
• Item Ignition: Most flammable materials.
• Item Damaged: Lowest remaining hit points.
• Item Expiry: Most perishable ingredients.
• Item Robust: Highest hit points relative to maximum.
• Mass Heaviest: Heaviest ingredient.
• Mass Lightest: Lightest ingredient.
• Nearest (Vanilla): Default behavior based on distance.
• Protect Blunt: Best blunt protection.
• Protect Sharp: Best sharp protection.
• Random: Random ingredient selection.
• Stock Fraction: Smallest stack relative to maximum size.
• Stock Least: Lowest stock quantity.
• Stock Most: Highest stock quantity.
• Temp. Coldest: Ingredient stored in the coldest environment.
• Temp. Warmest: Ingredient stored in the warmest environment.
• Value Cheapest: Lowest market value.
• Value Expensive: Highest market value.
• Weapon Bluntest: Highest blunt damage factor.
• Weapon Sharpest: Highest sharp damage factor.

Additional Functionality

• Per-bill overrides: Individual bills can override the bench default selection criteria.
• Improved storage usage: Helps prioritize damaged, surplus, or partial stacks to keep storage organized.
• Extended bill capacity: Raises the maximum number of bills per workbench to 125.
• Meal-only option: Mod settings allow restricting functionality to cooking-related workbenches.
• Configurable stock evaluation: Options allow evaluating stock across the entire map or within the bill radius.
• Toggle option: The feature can be completely disabled through mod settings.

Compatibility notes

• Save compatibility: Can be safely added or removed from ongoing saves.
• Combat Extended: Adds an additional filter “Protect Electric” for electric damage protection.
• Multiplayer: Native support included.
• Soft Warm Beds: Adds support for the Softness stat from Soft Warm Beds.
• Nutrition support: Supports ingredient evaluation based on nutrition values.
• Pawn bills: Does not apply to pawn-based bills.
