The Beasts of the Rim Mod adds 18 new wild animals to RimWorld’s biomes, including real-world animals, speculative biology creatures, humanoid beasts, and future-evolved species inspired by works such as After Man: A Zoology of the Future and The Future is Wild.

New animals and creatures

  • Armadillo: A desert mammal with a leathery armour shell, well-adapted for defense against larger predators.
  • Alligator Man: A large person with the head of an alligator.
  • Bardelot: A large, migratory, tundra-dwelling predator rat capable of producing litters with genetic input from many mates.
  • Black Bear: An adaptable bear found mainly in forested areas, but also able to forage in tundra, fields, and meadows.
  • Black Bear Man: A large person with the head of a black bear.
  • Penguin: An aquatic, flightless bird native to the coldest climates. Friendly to humans and known for its cuteness.
  • Giant Earthworm: A large worm that reproduces quickly.
  • Giantala: A large ground sloth-like marsupial from tropical forest undergrowth, using its giant tail as an extra leg to stand upright.
  • Gigantelope: An enormous herbivore with short legs and a slow, plodding lifestyle.
  • Jerbal: A large kangaroo-like gerbil adapted to desert environments, using its tail to store fat and survive long periods without food.
  • Mandrill: A colorful large Old World monkey that lives in groups in tropical rainforests.
  • Mandrill Man: A blue-rumped person with the head of a mandrill.
  • Megasquid: A large omnivorous terasquid, heavier than an elephant and almost as tall, moving through forests at a human walking pace.
  • Neanderthal: Humanity’s closest relative, communicating with primitive vocalizations and acting as an apex predator.
  • Rabbuck: A heavily built creature with insulating fat, found in tundra and coniferous forests.
  • Toraton: A massive creature with no adult predators, retaining small sections of ancestral shell as external muscle support.
  • Yippa: A long-necked llama-like herbivore native to tropical climates, feeding on upper layers of vegetation.
  • Zarander: A large elephant-like suine with a trunk, poor sense of smell, and keen hearing for detecting predators.
  • Zebra: A black and white striped herbivore that is stubborn and has never been truly domesticated.

Additional versions

If you want a version of the Beasts of the Rim Mod that does not add humanoid creatures to RimWorld, use the Beasts of the Rim (Classic) Mod.

Compatibility notes

For compatibility between the Beasts of the Rim Mod and the A Dog Said Mod, use LBE’s ADS Easy Patcher. The easy patcher is recommended if you are using multiple race or animal mods.

A17 mod files are available for the Beasts of the Rim Mod.

When troubleshooting the Beasts of the Rim Mod:

  • See if the error persists if you just have this mod and its requirements active.
  • If not, try adding your other mods until it happens again.
  • Always post your log using the Log Uploader.
