The Animal Genetics Mod adds a full inheritance and mutation system to RimWorld animals, introducing seven genetic traits that influence performance, production, and movement. Offspring inherit values from their parents, modified by a mutation factor, allowing you to selectively breed faster, stronger, or more productive animals.
Animal Genetics Mod Features
- Adds seven inheritable genetic traits affecting health, combat, movement, caravans, and resource yields.
- Children inherit either parent’s gene values with mutation-based variation.
- Stat modifiers apply as percentage values and can exceed or fall below 100%.
- New Genetics tabs show each animal’s full genetic breakdown and all wildlife gene values.
- Optional support for humanlike reproduction, compatible with mods that enable human children.
- Configurable gene ranges and mutation factors via Mod Options.
- Two color scheme options for gene display.
- Update: Resource yield now also affects egg-laying speed and egg amount.

F.A.Q
- Is there an inbreeding penalty? No, but an optional penalty may be added in the future.
- Will this work with mod X? Very likely; the mod is designed for broad compatibility.
- Can you make this work with humans? Human support already exists and can be enabled in Mod Options.
- It works with humans, but humans can’t have children? Use mods that enable human reproduction; generated related pawns will share similar genetic stats.
- Does this mod support RimWorld 1.1? Yes, but the developers do not actively test on that version.
- Can certain animals be blacklisted? Not currently, though this may be added later.
