All Memories Fade Mod makes all timed memories fade out gradually instead of ending abruptly, so mood buffs and debuffs decrease over time rather than disappearing all at once.
All Memories Fade Mod Features
The All Memories Fade Mod changes how memories affect pawn mood. Instead of a memory such as divorce applying a fixed -20 mood debuff for months or years and then vanishing instantly, the effect slowly ticks down over time.
This affects both positive and negative memories, making pawns generally more emotionally stable as strong mood effects fade naturally.
- Forces all memories to fade out over time.
- Affects both good and bad memories.
- Makes timed mood buffs and debuffs decrease gradually.
- Helps prevent sudden mood swings when memories expire.
- Adds settings for changing the base mood values of all memories.
- Adds settings for changing the duration of timed thoughts.
- Adds a setting for excluding memories with specific durations.
Memory fading behavior
All timed memories that give mood buffs or debuffs will fade proportionally to the time remaining. Strong buffs and severe debuffs will no longer disappear suddenly once their timer ends.
For example, a pawn suffering through drug withdrawal will feel only half as bad halfway through the process. Breakups and divorces can still be painful, but their mood effects will slowly fade instead of remaining at full strength for the entire duration.
Performance
The fading behavior already exists in vanilla RimWorld 1.3 as an optional memory property. The All Memories Fade Mod makes all memories use that property, so it should not cause any noticeable performance issues.
