Animals Prefer Grazing Features
- Animals that can eat live plants will prioritize grazing over consuming stored food.
- Ensures hay and other food reserves are only used when no grass or plants are available.
- In version 1.3, animals capable of eating corpses will prioritize unreserved corpses first.
- Improves realism and reduces micromanagement in animal feeding.
Important Notes
- Animals may eat crops if they have access to them; consider zoning them away from farm areas.
- For corpses you want to butcher, keep them outside allowed animal areas to avoid consumption.
- The mod uses a prefix patch on food selection logic, which may override or conflict with other mods affecting the same method.
- It is recommended to back up your save before adding or removing the mod, although no issues are expected.
- Compatible with RimWorld 1.2 and 1.3 (1.3 version not extensively tested).
Compatibility notes
- Animals Prefer Grazing Mod relies on Harmony and modifies food selection behavior, which may conflict with other mods patching the same method.
- Other patches to FoodUtility.TryFindBestFoodSourceFor may not apply when animals are grazing.
