RimWorld Version 1.0
After five and a half years of development we’re coming to the close of this chapter of RimWorld. RimWorld 1.0 will be released on October 17, 2018.
RimWorld 1.0 features
What was added in RimWorld 1.0? Version 1.0 is mostly the same as Beta 19 (click here to see the list), with a lot of bugfixes. The only significant new feature is a new food restriction system that allows you to determine what your colonists and prisoners are allowed to eat. Oh, and there will be a shiny new trailer on release day.

What comes after the release of RimWorld 1.0?
The developer of the game has stated that there will be new patches to fix bugs, but not much else. Perhaps they will release new content in the future, but nothing is assured. But we will always have the amazing modding community releasing new content for the game. And, with no new releases comes an added stability, so we can be sure that mods are going to have better compatibility from now on.
Not ready for an update?
If you’re playing an unmodded game, you can just keep playing. Version 1.0 will be compatible with un-modded savegames from Beta 19 and Beta 18. But, for heavily modded games, you can still play by reverting the game to the previous version. Simply follow these steps:
- In the Steam Library, right-click on RimWorld, select Properties, go to the Betas tab and select the “beta19” beta.
- Back up your mod files before they get updated to 1.0 by the mod authors:
- Copy all the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100
- Paste them all in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods
